**ANNOUNCEMENT: Fees will be waived for all Black and Indigenous writers, and writers of Palestinian descent, to support those most targeted by state violence. Email editor [at] anomalouspress [dot] org to request a fee waiver.
Thank you for liking us enough to submit! We're grateful that you're considering us as a home for your work. We accept poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and translations submissions through our Submittable platform only.
Please send Folio Proposals to Gillian Joseph and Lip Manegio at folio@anomalouspress.org. Folio proposals are accepted fee-free on a rolling basis year-round.
Please send Comics submissions to nick@anomalouspress.org.
General submissions in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, comics, and translation are open October 1 - February 1 and May 1 - August 1.
We do not accept AI-generated or AI-assisted prose or art. AI-assisted poetry (think Lillian-Yvonne Bertram) may be sent in so long as it is clarified in the cover letter that AI-based technologies were employed. We do not consider generative AI poetry.
To cover operational costs, we must charge a $3 fee for each submission. If, for reasons of financial hardship, you cannot afford to pay the submission fee or if this fee is a barrier, please send us an email at editor at anomalouspress dot org.
We strongly encourage you to take a look at http://www.anmly.org to see previous issues and see if you think your work is a good fit.
Simultaneous submissions are fine, but we ask that you notify us immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere. You can use this handy system to withdraw, or leave a note on your submission.
We only consider previously unpublished work. That includes work published on personal blogs, sorry. We're especially interested in work that uses the medium of the web as part of its compositional strategy.
We aim for a three-month response time, but we're only human. Because we're an all-volunteer organization we try our very best to offer a fair turnaround time, about four months. For any genre other than poetry please drop us a line if you haven't heard from us within three months. For poetry submissions, we can't respond to individual inquiries: if you haven't heard from us yet, it's because we're still working on your submission. We get over 1000 poetry submissions every period and are spending time reading each one carefully.
Send us your best, most challenging work through Submittable today.
There's always a lot brewing at Anomalous Press, so sign up for our email newsletter, follow us on Twitter, or like us on Facebook.
Please be aware that we get over 500 submissions per reading period and read each carefully, so if you're work has not been accepted or rejected it's not from oversight-we promise we're working on it!
Attach up to five poems in a single document. Please include a short bio in the "Cover Letter" field.
Translations that foreground the work of the original author are welcome in this category. For translations that foreground the creativity of the translator, please see our Translation section.

Translation at Anomalous Press seeks not only to publish literary work in translation, but to be translation-forward. We're excited about a wide range of submissions, but especially compelled by work that is recalcitrant, wayward, rebellious, whether formally, linguistically, politically, generically, or in some clever way that hasn't occurred to us yet. Send us work that expands our literary, linguistic, or cultural horizons; work that knows translation is a conversation; important voices that have been marginalized; voices too contemporary, too rooted, or too resistant to have yet reached English-reading ears. Show us the world.
Prose: Up to 5000 words, double-spaced in 12-pt font. Stand-alone excerpts of longer works are welcome.
Poetry: 1-6 poems, or up to 10 pages.
At the top of the first page, you must include the following header:
Title
Author
Translator
Word count.
Strongly recommended: a brief cover letter that contextualizes the text, author, and/or translation process. If accepted, we ask that this be revised.
Please submit your work in a .doc or .docx file (no frames or text boxes, please). Translation should be named "Translator Last name_Author Last name_Brief Title." Your translator's note, "Translator Last name_Author Last name_Note."
Translations should not have been published previously, and Anomalous Press requires translators to clear all rights prior to submission.
